Portait Sessions

Posted in Uncategorized by joe0113 on November 3, 2009

Halloween turned out to be a great day to photograph, it was warm with a gentle breeze.  My day was full with shoots because of rain the past few Saturdays and shown below are some sampling of the day.  It started with a family portrait of Hannah with her parents and their dog in their front yard.  Their dog was going to be put asleep on Tuesday … but Tuesday never came, he passed away Sunday morning.  For those who read my blogs knows that timing is everything … I am just happy that we got the session in and they now have photographs to remind them of the good times :-)

I’ve been photographing Christian since he was two along with his family.  I love the background in both images which was taken at Scotts Orchard in Deep River, Ct.

Always a good time there!

After Scotts Orchard I hopped into the car and met the Swain family outside of Gillette Castle in Haddam for their family portrait.  The last time I saw Pam and Jeff was at their wedding some twelve years ago that I photographed …. It’s always good to be part and seeing families grow!

My last session of the day was an engagement session at Harkness Park with Jason and Kristin who found me from the web….I’m glad they did because I had a lot of fun with them.

Here are just a few images from the session which I probably could have posted a least thirty!  Not bad for the beach on the last day of October … winds picked up but the light was beautiful.

Since we live on a busy road there are never any children trick and treating so my wife (Deb) and I decided to go out for dinner only to come home to a power outage :-)

We made the best of it … lit some candles and had some fun … one of the more memorable Halloween’s I’ve had since I was a child or I should say my adult life :-)

Our dog for over 14 years passed away last night in his sleep.  Everyone who came to the studio knew Tucker, he usually greeted you by your car.  He was never tied up … he just enjoyed being around people and hanging around the house.

I’m going to miss him, he was a great friend.

About an hour after coming home from the veterinarians I took this image of the sky over my house/studio …. do you believe in signs.

Photographed here is one of Chistophers Havens recipients before a Soxs game that Yuke describes in his latest video  http://vimeo.com/5226944 for his web site youkskids.org that was created by Jack of bartonswaymedia.com.  I had the pleasure to create a lot of the stills for the video.

Perfect Parties in Madison, Ct.

One of the benefits to being an events photographer is the food.  I’ve had the pleasure of working with some very creative caterers and Perfect Parties out of Madison, Ct. is one of the more creative ones.  These images were photographed at a recent outdoor tent wedding in Old Lyme that we both worked at.  Some day I hope this will rub off on my tailgating techniques in Foxboro … I need all the help to keep up with my brother, John aka Bro., who last year made Manicotti from scratch before a Pats game.

I had the pleasure yesterday to photograph the graduation class of 2009 of the Williams School in New London.  The group photo is always taken on the steps of the Conn. College Chapel steps where the school is located.  I always look forward to this yearly event, it’s a fun day.

I guess it’s nice that your dad is a photographer.  Shown here is my youngest, Maria, with her date Henry at the Valley Regional Junior Prom in New Haven @ Amarante’s.

You can always count on a sunset there.  Afterwards we had 20 of her friends over for a sleep over with a movie night showing Carrie … they didn’t sleep much:-)

Road Trip

One of my favorite things to due is go on a road trip to nowhere.  Whenever I travel I try to extend my stay by a day

so that I have time to drive and explore the area.  Our plan is usually drive an hour and take a right, drive another hour take a right, another hour take right.

These images came from recent golf trip to Arizona.  This one road

had no guard rails with at least a 200 foot drop which led us to this indian pueblo.

Opening Day

It’s opening day today after a rain postponement from yesterday got me thinking of one of my best moments from 2008 was when I had the opportunity to photograph Yuke prior to a game.  The session was for a charity event for Christopher’s Haven that was honoring Yuke in a November gala event.  It was a once in a lifetime moment to sit and spend some time in the historic Red Sox’s dugout.  Also pictured is Wakefield in the doorway to the clubhouse.
